What is the purpose of a moustache?
———- from Bob Burchfield of Rockford IL
In men, it’s to separate the nose from the upper lip. In women, the moustache serves to provide a sense of personal inadequacy and give cosmetologists business. Historically, both beards and moustaches gave our primitive ancestors a sort of home grown bib and handkerchief. Women chose to evolve away from this rough-and-ready method for personal hygiene, thereby giving birth to the clothing industry. Men who cannot, for hormonal reasons, grow a lush manly beard of the kind sported by this scientist, can wear a dynel artificial beard which is glued to the jaw with epoxy. In artificial light, you can’t tell the difference.
