My wife and I disagree over whether it’s necessary to put our washcloths in the laundry each week. I can’t see why you need to wash something your rub full of soap every time you use it. She thinks I’m being unhygenic. Who’s right?

You’re both wrong. Washcloths should be thrown away after each use. That way the dead skin cells you collect with each pass over your body can’t mutate and worm their way back into your brain, eventually causing early senility and a propensity for watching network television. For personal hygiene, I use a rough sponge filled with pumace and volcanic grit. It’s easy to sterilize. And when I travel, it fits neatly into a bowling bag.
